***UPDATE – I have been informed that when you get to the point of choosing your pharmacy that not all the pharmacies are showing up. If you are not able to choose your pharmacy just let me know I and I can add it for you on my end. I have let the program developers know about this so they can work on it.
Important Dates to Remember
- October 1st
- You should have your Annual Notice of Change from your current Medicare Advantage or Prescription Drug Plan
- This document explains what changes your plan will have for the following year
- You should have your Annual Notice of Change from your current Medicare Advantage or Prescription Drug Plan
- October 1st through October 14th – Considered “Pre AEP” (Annual Enrollment Period)
- Start looking at plans for next year
- NO ENROLLMENT APPLICATIONS CAN TAKEN DURING THIS TIME
- October 15th through December 7th (Medicare Annual Enrollment Period)
- Apply for a different Medicare Advantage or Prescription Drug Plan
- New plans will start January 1st of the following year
- January 1st through March 31st (Medicare Advantage Open Enrollment)
- This is for only those who are enrolled in a Medicare Advantage plan
- If you are unhappy with your current plan, you are allowed to make one change and will take effect the first day of the following month you apply
- You can change from a Medicare Advantage Plan to a different Medicare Advantage Plan
- You can change from a Medicare Advantage Plan back to Original Medicare and enroll in a stand-alone Prescription Drug Plan
- April 1st through December 31st (The “Lock-In” Period)
- Generally, you’re in the Medicare Advantage or Prescription Drug plan you chose for the rest of the year unless you qualify for a Special Enrollment Period which are specific qualifying events that allow you to make a change. The following are only but a couple common examples and are not a full list.
- If you qualify for “Extra Help” you can make one change per quarter but for only the first three quarters of the year
- If you move from one “service area” (state to state or possibly county to county) to another you have about 60 days to choose another plan
- Generally, you’re in the Medicare Advantage or Prescription Drug plan you chose for the rest of the year unless you qualify for a Special Enrollment Period which are specific qualifying events that allow you to make a change.
